8 best social media management tools in 2026
Postora is run by the team behind Schedchie, one of the tools compared here.
Metricool ranks first: €16 a month billed annually for 5 brands, with deep analytics (metricool.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-27). Schedchie ranks second: €7.99 a month for unlimited accounts, the lowest price here, with basic analytics.

A social media management tool does four jobs: plan, schedule, report and reply. Most tools do all four. They differ in what they charge per account or per person, and in how far the reporting and the inbox go. This list ranks eight of them on those two things, with the arithmetic shown.
How we ranked them
The scenario is one person running 10 social accounts: two brands on five networks each (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube). For each tool we took the cheapest listed plan whose own allowance holds all 10 accounts, at the cheapest billing basis the vendor prints, and worked out the cost of a year.
- Price for 10 accounts counts for two-thirds. The cheapest tool gets 8 points, the most expensive 1.
- Analytics and inbox depth counts for one-third. Points from 8 to 1, judged from what each vendor's pricing page lists for that same plan: a shared inbox, brand or competitor monitoring, competitor reports, report exports and analytics history.
- Score = (2 × price points + depth points) ÷ 3. Ties go to the lower price.
Platform coverage is described in each section but not scored, because Hootsuite and Sprout Social do not list their networks on their pricing pages.
| Rank | Tool | Plan that holds 10 accounts | Cost of a year | Price points | Depth points | Score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Metricool | Starter, 5 brands | €16 × 12 = €192, billed annually | 7 | 5 | 6.3 |
| 2 | Schedchie | Pro | €7.99 × 12 = €95.88, billed monthly | 8 | 1 | 5.7 |
| 3 | Later | Growth, 2 social sets | $37.50 × 12 = $450, billed yearly | 6 | 2 | 4.7 |
| 4 | SocialPilot | Standard, 15 accounts | $42.50 × 12 = $510, billed annually | 5 | 4 | 4.7 |
| 5 | Agorapulse | Standard, 10 profiles | $79 × 12 = $948, billed annually | 3 | 6 | 4.0 |
| 6 | Buffer | Essentials, 10 channels | 10 × $60 = $600, billed yearly | 4 | 3 | 3.7 |
| 7 | Hootsuite | Standard, 10 accounts | $99 × 12 = $1,188, billed annually | 2 | 7 | 3.7 |
| 8 | Sprout Social | Professional (lower plans stop at 5 profiles) | $299 × 12 = $3,588, annual billing | 1 | 8 | 3.3 |

1. Metricool: analytics-first, billed per brand
Metricool pairs a content planner with analytics, an inbox, link-in-bio pages and ads reporting. It bills per brand, where a brand is one set of profiles for one business. Its site lists Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X, Twitch, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn.
For our 10 accounts (two brands), Starter at €16 a month billed annually covers up to 5 brands: €16 × 12 = €192 a year. Ten brands cost €29 a month billed annually; billed monthly the same tiers are €20 and €37 (metricool.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-27).

Pros
- Starter lists unlimited publishing (under a fair-use policy), analytics with unlimited history, analysis of up to 100 competitors, and PDF and PPT reports.
- The free plan covers one brand, so you can try the planner before paying.
- Advanced adds team and client management, roles, a post approval system, a Looker Studio connector and an API.
Cons
- The free plan excludes LinkedIn and X and allows 20 posts a month.
- Team roles and approvals start at Advanced, not Starter.
- X needs a separate add-on, as it does on several tools here.
Pick it if reports are part of what you sell or how you justify the budget, and you run a handful of brands.
2. Schedchie: unlimited accounts at one price
Schedchie is a scheduler with one flat plan. Pro is €7.99 a month for unlimited connected accounts, unlimited scheduled posts and unlimited client groups. For 10 accounts that is €7.99 × 12 = €95.88 a year, the lowest cost in this list, and it stays €95.88 at 50 or 200 accounts. Billing is monthly; there is no annual plan.
It publishes to twelve platforms: Instagram, Facebook, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Bluesky, Mastodon, Telegram, Google Business Profile and X. X posting is a separate add-on, €4.99 for 30 posts valid for 30 days, on any plan.
Pros
- The price does not move with account count.
- One composer for every platform, with per-platform text overrides; client groups give each client or brand its own workspace and calendar.
- Calendar and list views, recurring posts, CSV bulk import with media and titles, and full editing of scheduled posts.
- Instagram Reels, carousels and Stories, music on Reels, TikTok photo posts, LinkedIn polls and documents, Pinterest board targeting.
- A failed post triggers an email with one-click retry, and each post shows a success or error result per account.
- The Team plan, €24.99 a month, adds 3 invited members, per-member post approvals and client review links. Invited members need no paid plan.
- An assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude can connect to the account through Schedchie's MCP server.
Cons
- Analytics are basic: engagement for Facebook and Instagram, plus LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, Bluesky and TikTok. No X analytics, and nothing near Sprout Social or Metricool in depth. That is why it scores 1 on depth.
- No social listening, no AI writing tools, no best-time suggestions, no first comment, no mobile apps, no public API.
- No free plan. There is a 14-day trial on Pro and Team.
Pick it if you run many accounts and the job is publishing, not reporting.
3. Later: visual planning for Instagram-first brands
Later is built around a visual planner: drag media onto a calendar and preview the Instagram grid. Its pricing page lists Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, LinkedIn and Snapchat. A social set holds one profile on each of those networks.
Two brands need two social sets, which means Growth at $37.50 a month billed yearly: $37.50 × 12 = $450 a year. Starter, $18.75 a month billed yearly, holds one social set and 30 posts per profile per month; Growth allows 180 posts per profile per month (later.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-27).
Pros
- Visual planner and grid preview, saved captions, and a link-in-bio page on every plan.
- Growth adds a social inbox, approvals and 2 users.
- Mobile app for iOS and Android.
Cons
- Post caps on Starter and Growth; only Scale lists unlimited posts.
- AI content tools run on monthly credits (5 on Starter, 50 on Growth).
- Custom analytics and competitive benchmarking start at Scale.
Pick it if Instagram and TikTok carry the brand and the grid's look matters.
4. SocialPilot: agency features at mid-range prices
SocialPilot bills per account bundle and adds users as plans go up. Its pricing page lists Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, YouTube, Pinterest and Google Business.
Standard holds 15 accounts and 3 users for $42.50 a month billed annually ($50 billed monthly): $42.50 × 12 = $510 a year. Essentials holds 7 accounts for $30 a month billed monthly, with extra accounts at $4 a month each, so ($30 + 3 × $4) × 12 = $504 a year, but without the inbox (socialpilot.co/plans, checked 2026-09-27).

Pros
- Standard lists a social inbox, analytics, team collaboration and manager approval.
- Premium adds bulk scheduling, client approval and white-label reports.
- First comment, RSS posting, a mobile app and an MCP server are on the feature list.
Cons
- Accounts are capped per plan, so the bill steps up as clients arrive.
- Advanced analytics start at Premium.
- No free plan; there is a 14-day trial.
Pick it if you run a small agency and want client approvals and branded reports without per-seat pricing.
5. Agorapulse: the inbox comes first
Agorapulse is known for its inbox: messages, comments and reviews from every connected network in one queue, with assignment and notes. Its pricing page counts Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Bluesky and Google Business toward the profile limit.
Standard includes 10 profiles for $79 per user per month billed annually ($99 paid monthly): $79 × 12 = $948 a year for one person. Extra profiles cost $10 a month each on annual billing (agorapulse.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-27).

Pros
- Standard lists one inbox for messages and organic comments, basic reports and branded report exports.
- Higher plans add ad comment moderation, assignments, saved replies, competitor benchmarking and ROI analysis.
- First comment scheduling, CSV bulk scheduling of up to 200 posts, a mobile app and a 30-day free trial.
Cons
- Priced per user, so each teammate is another seat.
- Advanced listening is sold as an add-on.
Pick it if replying to comments and messages is a daily job for a small team.
6. Buffer: cheap for a few channels
Buffer charges per connected channel. Its site lists Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Threads, Pinterest, Google Business Profile, Bluesky, Mastodon and Substack.
Essentials is $5 per channel per month, billed yearly ($60 a year per channel): 10 × $60 = $600 a year. The free plan covers 3 channels with 10 scheduled posts per channel. Team is $10 per channel per month, billed yearly (buffer.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-27).
Pros
- The free plan and the per-channel price make it the cheapest option for one to three accounts.
- The AI Assistant, Start Page (a link-in-bio page) and the visual calendar are on every plan.
- Paid plans list a community inbox, analytics, reports and API access; Team adds approval workflows.
Cons
- Every channel is billed, so 10 accounts cost ten times one.
- Paid plans carry a fair-use cap of 5,000 scheduled posts per channel.
- No listening or competitor monitoring on the pricing page.
Pick it if you run one to three accounts and want a free or near-free start.
7. Hootsuite: a full suite, priced per user
Hootsuite covers publishing, an inbox, monitoring, analytics and AI writing tools, priced per user. Its publishing page names Instagram, X, Facebook, TikTok, Threads and Bluesky among its networks.
Standard is $99 per user per month, billed annually, for up to 10 social accounts: $99 × 12 = $1,188 a year. Professional, with unlimited accounts, is $199; Advanced is $399 (hootsuite.com/plans, checked 2026-09-27).

Pros
- Standard lists unlimited posts (with a footnote), AI post and image generation, one inbox, and brand and competitor monitoring.
- Professional adds unlimited accounts, inbox automation and custom reports; Advanced adds approvals across teams.
- 14-day free trial.
Cons
- Standard stops at 10 accounts; the 11th account moves you to Professional.
- Trial accounts have daily posting limits, and bulk scheduling is off during the trial.
Pick it if monitoring and reporting across a larger team justify a per-user price.
8. Sprout Social: the deepest reporting, the highest price
Sprout Social is an enterprise suite built around a shared inbox and reporting. It charges per seat and caps profiles on its lower plans.
Essentials is $79 per seat per month with annual billing ($99 billed monthly) and Standard is $199; both hold 5 profiles. Ten profiles need Professional at $299: $299 × 12 = $3,588 a year for one seat. Advanced is $399 (sproutsocial.com/pricing, checked 2026-09-27).

Pros
- Standard lists a consolidated inbox, keyword and location monitoring, and review management.
- Professional adds unlimited profiles, message tagging, and competitor, tag and paid insights.
- Premium Analytics and Listening are available as add-ons; mobile apps for iOS and Android; 30-day free trial.
Cons
- The highest cost per person in this list.
- Each extra person is another seat at the plan price.
Pick it if social media is a customer-care and reporting function with its own team and budget.
Which one to pick
- One to three accounts, no budget: Buffer's free plan, or Metricool's free plan if LinkedIn and X are not needed.
- Many accounts, publishing is the job: Schedchie. €7.99 a month does not change with the account count.
- A few brands, reporting matters: Metricool.
- Instagram-first, visual brands: Later.
- Small agency with client approvals and branded reports: SocialPilot, or Schedchie's Team plan at €24.99 if approvals and client review links are enough and branded reports are not.
- A team that lives in the inbox: Agorapulse.
- Large teams that need monitoring and deep reporting: Hootsuite or Sprout Social.
Every tool here offers a free plan or a trial of 14 days or more. Run your real accounts and one week of real posts through two of them before you pay for a year.
